Stakeholders selling streetlight at weija Gbawe constituency - wieja Gbawe youth alleged

  The Non Partisan Youth within the weija Gbawe constituency are calling on the  Municipal Chief Executive (MCE),  Hon Patrick Kwesi Brako Kumor and Hon. Gifty Tina Naa Ayele Mensah  Member of the Parliament for Weija-Gbawe Constituency  as a matter of urgency to investigate into the sales of street lights by some stakeholders of the Weija-Gbawe Municipal and some constituents. According to them the sales of the streets lights even generated a fracas between the sales personnel and other members. During thier visit to some areas within the constituency, they noticed most areas are plug into darkness. The effort of the member of parliament and MCE to ensure lights are everywhere within the constituency is been sabotaged. They also touched on the survey which was said to be conducted within the constituency, as a group, since the formation of the weija Gbawe constituency the Member of parliament, Hon. Gifty Tina Naa Ayele Mensah  has performed better than any past Member of parliament. T

PURC announces 27.15% hike in electricity tariff, 21.55% for water

 The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has announced a 27.15% increase in tariff for electricity and 21.55% increase in water tariff effective September 1, 2022. This comes after utility companies including the Electricity Company of Ghana and Ghana Water Company Limited proposed an increase in tariffs by 148% and 334% respectively. PURC however explains that the decision was arrived at after rigorous analysis and extensive consultations with industry players, as well as an assessment of the economic conditions of consumers. Addressing journalists in Accra on Monday, August 15, 2022, the Chairman of the PURC, Mr. Ebo Quagraine called on the public to support the utility companies to recoup revenues by reporting illegal connections. The ECG had proposed that its tariffs be increased by 148% for 2022 and with 7.6% average adjustments between the periods of 2023 to 2026. Police probes alleged attack on Kofi Adoma

  The Ghana Police Service has commenced investigations into the alleged attack on Kofi Adoma Nwanwani, the Director of News at Accra-based Angel Broadcasting Network (ABN). The Service said it began investigating the case immediately it came to its attention.  The Police made this known in a brief press statement posted on its social media pages on Sunday, August 7.  “The Police are investigating alleged attacks by some unknown persons on Stephen Kofi Adomah, a staff of Angel Broadcasting Network on August 6, 2022, at Old Ashongman Village in Accra. Investigation into the alleged incident commenced immediately the matter came to the attention of the Police.” About the attack Kofi Adoma Nwanwanii is currently on admission after being attacked by some unknown persons around Old Ashongman. The incident is said to have occurred on Saturday, August 6, 2022.
