Patapaa Grabs An Award At DJ’s Awards Night + Full List

 Swedru-based afro-beats artiste Patapaa Amisty’s popular ‘One Corner’ song has been adjudged the song of the year at the 2018 Ghana DJ Awards. This year’s Ghana DJ Awards was successfully held at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) on Saturday, May 5, 2018. The crème of the nation’s DJs gathered to be rewarded for their excellence in disc jockeying in the year under review. Among the winners were DJ Vyrusky, DJ Slim, King Lagazee, Vision DJ, DJ Mic Smith, DJ Shiwaawa and DJ Nyce. Patapaa also scooped the DJ song of the year after his hit song “One Corner” beat off competition from other nominated songs. Church Member Beats Pastor

 A Member of the Mosama Church International at Sankore in the Brong-Ahafo Region, Agya Osei, has reportedly subjected his head pastor, Bismarck Mensah, to severe beatings for asking him (Osei) to render accounts of the church’s revenue which was in his possession. The pastor and some elders of the church had reportedly gone to Osei’s house to ask him to render the accounts to them, but he became incensed and without any provocation, allegedly descended on his pastor with the help of his nephew – who was only identified as Kofi. Rev. Mensah is currently nursing a deep cut he sustained at the lower side of his left eye. The attack, which was said to have happened on May 3, 2018 at about 8:00 am, was reported to the police and the pastor was later issued with a medical form to attend hospital, sources told DAILY GUIDE. Zylofon Music signed artiste Shatta Wale has begged Ghana's President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to at least hashtag his new song, titled "Gringo" on Twitter. The singer in a tweet on Friday, May 4, begged Nana Addo saying "Honourable ministers are saying #Gringo Mr President @NAkufoAddo can you please in the name of the Lord hashtag #Gringo? You have worked so much your Excellency! You need it. God bless you God bless Ghana." Shatta Wale’s ‘Gringo’ and its accompanying video has sparked conversation on social media with mix reactions from music lovers. The video has garnered over 700,000 streams on YouTube in just a week. Teenage Girl Stabs Boyfriend During Sex

 A teen interested in human sacrifice and sexual violence was sentenced Wednesday to more than 11 years in prison after she pleaded guilty to stabbing her partner while they were having sex. Zoe Adams, 19, of Wigton, United Kingdom, admitted to unlawfully and maliciously wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm for an attack during which she stabbed Kieran Bewick, then 17, five times in his chest, arm and leg. The on-and-off couple had been drinking one night in July 2017 when Bewick got sick and went to bed, local police said. Adams, who had also been smoking cannabis, had two more shots before going to bed with Bewick, according to Cumbria Police. Adams asked Bewick to put a pillow over his face to "make it more kinky," police said. She then told him to "trust me" before stabbing him, according to British tabloid The Sun. Kenya's President Calls For 'Forgiveness'

 Kenya's President Uhuru Kenyatta has called for forgiveness and reconciliation during his state of the nation address. "If there was anything I said last year that hurt or wounded you, if I damaged the unity of this country in any way, I ask you to forgive me, and to join me in repairing that harm," Mr Kenyatta said. Mr Kenyatta was criticized for calling the judges "thugs" after the Supreme Court annulled his election win in August 2017. He won a re-run, which was boycotted by his main rival Raila Odinga. Mr Kenyatta called Mr Odinga "a mad man". "I pray that all of us will spend the days and weeks after this address repairing the bonds that frayed last year," he said during today's address. Over 100k Children Caught In Child Labour In Ghana

The Government of Ghana has been urged to strengthen its measures aimed at fighting child labour, human trafficking and modern day slavery in the country if it hopes to end the menace. The move, according to experts is necessary as more children are being trafficked to work in hazardous environments in the country especially in the fishing sector. Over 100,000 children according to a research are trapped in hazardous labour situations in the country as such children are made to perform tasks which are above their strength with no regard for their education and health. A lot of the children, the experts say even die in the process as their slave masters push them into rivers to carry out tasks which mostly claim their lives. GRA to tax street beggars

The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has served notice it will be taxing street beggars as part of moves to widen the tax net. The exercise will also target individuals, especially women selling Dubai Wax prints and other imports through door-to-door and neighboring nationals trading on bicycles in the Northern region. The Principal Revenue Chief at the Small Tax Payer Office of the GRA in the Northern region Alhaji Yahaya Mohammed told journalists that some individuals occupying the streets are now harvesting a lot of daily earnings that fall within the tax threshold. “Those who carry things on their heads to sell (hawkers) be it cloth or consumables, we will tax them, how much more people who earn daily,” the Revenue Officer said. “GRA taxes foreigners in town and by law the beggars fall within the taxable threshold,” Alhaji Mohammed stressed, adding that those into alms taking as a form of business and a “hobby” should be ready to pay tax on their earnings.
